£400 is way expensive mate.

£220 ish will get you a good cat 1.

More so its not "just" a certificate- a 17 year old alarm will be useless, most 5 year olds would by pass it...

You can get your old alarm certified- look in the yellow pages at any of the installers- cost about £50+vat... but thats if it passes - which is wont, from memory thatcham stuff needs upgrading every few years or it goes out of date for some insurers.

Greenlight are an excellent specialist and well worth the messing about you have to do to get insurance with them.
