depends on the car, on most older fords.

The little elves loosen off the locking nut on the steering rack tie rod ends (on the end of the rack bolted to the hub) and wind the tie rods to lengthen (or shorten depending on toe in or out) the rod exposed then do the nut back up to lock the tie rod end up.

you can also correct your steering if its off center a little bit by winding them both the same way
