My dads engine in his M5 "somehow" blew up after losing a shed load of power v fast. It was out of warranty but was put into dealership. told us it would be 12.5k to sort so phoned customer services very annoyed "dont worry Mr Rodger we will speak to the dealership and see what the problem is."
Phonecall 1 hour later to tell us the engine was in a crate on a truck on the way to airport in Germany all paid for by BMW - we had to pay only labour at 1.5k or something stupid!
