Wehn i had my first engine balanced i noticed a HUGE difference, less vibrations, more drivable and easyer on acceleration.
Knife edging does help on the weight, and gives less drag when the cranck is in the oil, but what you also should do is get the block lineborred, this gives less resistand if just one of the bearingblocks(cant remember the right name) is out of bore
