Zetec 2.0L - experience with U.S.A. Comp Cams
Who has experience or knows something about running Comp Cams in a 2.0L Zetec (Black Top from a Focus)?
Mainly it is their price that drew my attention (well now that the US$ is worth so little).
As I guess most of ye already know, Comp Cams are the way to go when you have some serious cubic inches, but we’re forced into the small league on this side of the pond (taxed to the hilt).
My guess is that Comp Cams didn’t put nearly as much effort into developing these Zetec cams as the cam manufactures over here did (market supply & demand).
Their lobe separation angles (lobe centers) are quite wide (112°) as is usual for US cars with automatic transmission so as to give a broader (flatter) torque curve.
Some info on the 3 cams they offer (saves ye searching the net):
Comp Cams PART #FRDZTC.
Serious Street/Race Cam (1400 to 6000rpm): Duration for inlet & exhaust = 273 degrees each. Valve lift inlet & exhaust=0.381 inch each. Full lift inlet & exhaust=112 degrees each.
Severe Street/Competition Cam (1800 to 7000rpm): Duration for inlet & exh=281°. Valve lift inlet & exhaust=.381". Full lift inlet & exhaust= 112°.
Competition/Pro Race (2200-7400rpm): Duration for inlet & exh= 289deg. Valve lift inlet & exhaust=.381". Full lift inlet & exhaust= 112°.
Thanks guys for any info you can give!
