tests showed the rubber starts to deteroiate as soon as its made really and even a few years age does significantly affect performance. I am sure it was EVO

That is correct, but the SSRs are so far ahead of normal road tyres, that even with a slight deteriation, they are better than any normal tyre I have ever used, so am I bovvered?
