it was not really hunting imo, as it was far too easy. but that is the way that the farms make their money, so that's what they do. at the end of the day, it's a business.
it was a good programme, but theroux is a dopey git at times. fair enough that he could not bring himself to shoot an animal, but he does eat meat that has been killed in far less humane ways - as do most of you who are objecting to it probably - and that makes him a hypocrite.
if you don't focus on the hunting aspect of what is happening, what you actually have is not a bad situation. you have many breeds being properly managed, whereas in a lot of africa they are dying out due to the natives not managing them properly and just continuing to kill because they are either hungry for the meat or are poaching to sell the skins, horns or whatever.
at least on these 'hunts' the animal is being used for what they were put on this planet for - food. they are not just being shot for fun and wasted.
i had a braai party last summer and got some imported south african meat of kudu, zebra, warthog, impala, springbok etc that was superb and probably came from these types of farms. it's good, sustainable agriculture in my opinion.
