You first need to check for power at the indicator stalk, with ignition on, ther eshould be a LIVE going to the stalk for the indicators, so use a test LIGHT(bulb) so when you prod it they wil try to flash.
The LIVE for the headlights will also be there, so find out which is which first.
I would have a good pressing session with the hazzard switch as this all goes through the hazzard switch contacts, even the normal indicators.
The alarm uses itself to generate a brief supply to flash the indicators, so means nothing.
