I paid £980 at 17 for a 1.25 fiesta...so I doubt you'll get it under £1200-1300 being a bloke sadly...that first year was with ladybird insurance (it was cheap, I didn't pick the name lol)....who do a different insurance trading names for men/older drivers...they might be cheap? They were mid table on confused.com for me but managed to knock it down on the phone.
What I found out (that you may or may not know) is that fiesta zetecs are group 6 insurance (1.6 zetec s for example is only group 8 iirc?)....so you might be able to get something a bit quicker for £200 more premiumwise...which may make it less bad!
Fiestas, for what they are...are quite high up the groups really for how crappy they are...considering kas etc are really low groups.
Having the insurance in your name but a woman over 35 on the policy is sometimes a good way to knock it down...so adding your mum to your policy may be a way to get a few quid off if upping your excess/keeping it alarmed in a garage/having an agreed mileage that's so low you can't drive the car doesn't help!
