Default just returned from Krakow

decided to go again and not regretting it at all... thanks to the cheap prices from www.centralwings.com stayed in a 3star hotel that was quite central to the old town, we stayed in the same one as last time no english tv , arrgghhhhh

cheapest botttle of vodka i found was £4, the polish beer is nice and potent and about £1 per 1/2 ltr.
taxi drivers are lunatics, but then by watching most of the car drivers they follow a close second

the saltmine is a deffinite visit http://www.kopalnia.pl/site.php?acti...nt_change=true
BUT be warned ... "Visitors walk down by steps (378) to the shaft bottom on floor one" thats 54 flights of stairs you go down and down and down and ..... its roughly 1hr 45mins constant walking going down more stairs .. but well worth it to see the chapel of St kinga.

had a good wander around the old town, went to see shindlers factory, which i was a but shocked to see in such a bad state considering the significance of it, supposed to be undergoing a major building renovation project but looks a long time till it will be finished.

the original gates

also deffo worth a visit is St Mary's basilica

inside is very impressive.

the food from the market sellers is cheap and really good, we found it very hard to eat out for over £10 for the pair of us no matter where we went, although ther upmarket restaurants will charge you that for one course, you dont neeed lots of money to eat and drink well the hotels are quite cheap but there are also hostels etc even cheaper...
basically finished off what we started 2 years ago.
next visit will be to warsaw need to go and see the rele's

the people are still very friendly, although the worst bit about going were the pissed up stag party's from the uk.... the 2 irish blokes could not quite understand why they were getting hassled by the polish .. might have been the fact of them urinating against a church doorway..

overall well worth going i your looking for a good weekend away with cheap food and drink then this is a good choice, good culture friendly people who seem to be shocked when you show them you can speak basic polish, to be truthfull its not that hard to put a few words together to order a beer etc...
pizza dominium has some good food as do the georgian retaurants, pork or chicken with a shit load of chips if you really dont want to try the foreign food there is a couple of McDonalds but the market food stalls were by far the best value for money ...
