Just want to say first of all I am NOT thinking of doing or have done anything like this but...

I was just sitting thinking about my car insurance as I have been reading a lot of stories regards to car insurance on the net and in newspapers etc and was wondering: when they ask you have you had any claims within the last 5 years (your own fault or not) and you say no you haven't when you have, then how do they find out in the event of a claim?
