Applied for a job last week and had an email back from the employer asking if i would "come along to the office for a chat" regarding the position.

Now, "come along to the office for a chat" would you understand that as a formal interview, or an informal chat about the job advertised?

Should I go along in a suit, shirt and tie, or would jeans, shoes and a shirt be more appropriate?

Dont want to look un-interested by not dressing up, however dont want to look over-keen in the suit.

What you rekon? The job is for a Graphic Designer btw, if that makes any odds.
