If the ram was fucked the machine wouldn't work

Don't be a lazy sod - format it - stick the basics on it (takes about an hour) and see if its better. If not then scrap it cos 3 years old in the PC world means its basically rubbish lol.

U could benchmark is first to give u an idea if its performing as it should do. Download novabench and run that. it wont test ur hdd but it will test the pace of the rest of ur machine.
