Default Knock detection

Im just wondering what methods some of you are using to detect knock. I know a lot of tuners near me are only relying on their own ears to listen for it.
I use a homemade system consisting of a set of ear muffs connected to a lenght of tube with a copper pipe on the end which I bolt onto the block, im not convinced that i can detect low knock levels though...

Is it possible to just connect the standard cosworth knock sensor to an amplifier and actually 'listen' to it...or is there any other way of using the standard sensor?

Is anyone using any electronic devices to monitor knock?

Interested to hear from you,
Thanks
