if you deliver it to him and ask him to top up the fuel tank on the car you are picking up (can't be more than £60 really can it?) and you'll top up the tank and whatever is left when it gets to his is hiw then you've not lost out and you've done the good deed etc

just don't spank it round a tree on the way during your last long drive in it
