Let me just start by saying, one of the only reasons I did this was because the dash didnt light up. Chris, (carnoisseur/cossymad) who I work for on saturdays and long time cossie owner told me they cant be fixed....well I found out today that they can!
I wanted a stack dash, but there was no way I was paying that sort of money for a clock. Chris found me one of these -

It does loooooaaaaddddsssssaaaa stuff and dare I say it more then a stack?!?! (so if anyone with a stack wants to do a swap, lol

)
First problem I noticed, the ford fuel level sender was not compatible and the one they give you needed to be cut in!! There's no way I was doing that so I desided to somehow keep the ford one. Other thing I wasnt happy with was the 'LED' style rev counter, so the ford rev counter had to stay to.

I didnt want to cut up the cossie dash, so I got a XR3i/RS2000 one off the bay (£15) and took it apart. Thankfully they are very simple to work with.

The clear cover doubles up as the border for the clocks. I cut it as close and straight to the edge as possible and started to make a cradboard template.

The fuel gauge had to be moved over in to the temp gauges slot for the dash to fit in the middle. It was pretty straight forward to do. The new dash will give me a digital water temp reading. Ive re-located oil warning and full beam lights to the new dash also.
It looked so good with the cardboard I was going to leave it like that....hmmmm

. We all know theres only one material to be used for somthing like this...CARBON FIBRE!!
Luckily, my local carbon fibre man (Phil@carbondelight 0772088601, nicest bloke in the world and can make anything from carbon fibre) had a spare bit. All I had to do is cut the shapes in it......

....Which turned out to be a complete pig! And thats what stage Im at at the moment. Ive got to black the bits I cut out and glue it all together then do a bit of wiring and it will be finished tomorrow and then all I got to do is put the speed sensor somwhere and a few other bits and Ill put it in the car.
Now you all know why I needed to know if a XR3i dash will plug in to a cossie dash connector! phew, lol.
