Re check cam timing, check ignition timing is at the right point, check plug leads correct order.
If it is a new engine, sometimes there is not a very good seal between pistons/bores, so a little oil in the bores helps the seal and gets it going, a trick often used on older cars that have been stored for years.tabetha
