ANy Diesel Experts Out there? 1800 escort van running fault!
Good evening all. I have a trusty 1800 D P reg Escort Van fitted with a CAV type pump and is a non turbo. I have been running it every day with no problems for ages when a strange fault has started, It will not start it it is facing up hill, no way in the world will not have it.So to get over this i park it downhill, even when warm. So this to means the fuel must be getting back to the tank some how. What happens even when facing down hill now is it will start but will run for a few seconds then cut out. So i checked the fuel filter primer and the filter has no fuel in it. Re pump the primer then it will start and will run high on the revs for ages then calm down then run high again. Have replaced the following, Fuel cut off solonoid, Fuel Filter, Fuel filter housing, Air filter and pre pump fuel lines. Still with fault. AGHHHHHH!! So think it must be the all expensive pump. Remeber though when its facing down hill it runs sweet most of the time but just revs high now and again. Strange fault! I know my RS Turbos not diesels so i am now stuck any help would be great with this as i have just had the van sign written and re painted so will be gutted to have to spend another 500 quid on it!!
