yes mate, just unplug it and make sure you don't blow it up
i remember that we had to unplug the dizzy wiring plug on a granada pinto injection once when we were doing a compression check as it blew the internals up as it had no where to go

much better than removing the plugs and having petrol fumes coming out with a spark close by
