its possible for a diesel engine to pick up and start running on the oil. if this happens stay well clear. the engine will rev well above the limiter until a) it runs out of oil and seizes ot b) catches fire. unfortunately no way of shutting the engine off if this happens
If this every happens this is what you do. You have to be quick though. Open the bonnet, open up the air intake, from behind the filter housing, and ram your jumper, tee shirt, trousers, underpants, socks, whatever in there.
This will suffercate the engine, and hey presto, it'll dye before it dye's.
