Only modifying a "normal car to better than superscars is a compromise.

The thing why cossies and evos and imprezas will never be as good as lambourgini's/ferrari's/bugatti's etc, is because mainly aerodynamics/reliability!

Supercars are the WHOLE package, speed/handling/comfort.
Yes you could argue fiesta rst's with 1/10 of the money spent compared to a ferrari 360 will go down the quarter faster, but it won't go round corners/be as comfortible, have a higher top speed etc.

It would be good to see these cars go on top gear and trounce the supercars, but only to get the modified scene a better name and more people into the scene, because anyone with half a mind knows you cant compare a veyron or an slr to a 20 year old sierra!
