some of the cars were doing near 200mph at 1/2mile last yr, (keith did 209mph in half mile) and many are hitting 180+mph at that distance. Dropping it back to a standing kilometre gives a little bit of safety aspect, is a lot less hard on engines, and also allows a hard wired (instant) speed result rather than having to radio them back to the timing cabin. at this stage however its a proposal only for the team reps to consider.
Many of the team reps have already responded favourably to the proposal, and we may also be able to have the top speed spectating area back as a bonus.
The handling circuit is also subject to a new timing system which we can run 2 cars seperately timed with a suitable safe interval, based on transponders, to effectively cut the queue for the handling cct right down.
Joel won it with a 204 so like shit he was doing near 200 at 1k.
180 is a million miles from 200, mines done 180 in 900m, but its nowhere near its Topspeed.
My car is a Topspeed machine over 1.5miles & so its entering Vmax & Fighting Torque next year, just a pity for the Ford lads its not suitable over such a short distance.
Keith aint in the normal event & is on a different planet.
