WPA is a lot more secure though.....
just put your password in the passphrase box and it will generate the hex codes.....

Like say normally I get about 300kbs on newsgroups would I see that increase ?

You shouldn`t notice a big difference in performance,also depends on connection speed/wether you are running through a peer etc...
