got an exteranal hard drive with about 10 gig worth of pics on it

which has crashed

it's only 4 months old so taking it back is an option but i don't have the recipt

can i get these pics off the hard drive?

it's the past 5 years worth of family pics, and i mean every single pic i've ever taken on a digital camera that's on here and the mrs has thrown a total and utter wobbler and it looks like i'll be sleeping in the van tongiht if i don't get it fixed asap because she wants to have some pics to show
