The V6 K series does not have the same HGF problems as the 4 pot models and are pretty reliable, we have a 190hp version and have now put 50k miles on it since it's purchase without a single problem but at 25mpg it's not the cheapest to run.

Diesels on the other hand are very economical and although quite smooth when moving you do know that you are driving an oil burner when it's sitting there idling.

Whichever engine type you go for you should try and get one with all the toys such as Sat Nav,TV, Computer & Alcantara trim , they don't cost that much more when secondhand and have the bonus of being the same as BMW fit.

I would not trade our silky smooth petrol V6 for a diesel version, no way!
