The transponder is in a little glass tube - looks like an LED poking out from some rubber bits at the 'key end' of the buttons part of the key. it can be gently teased out but im not sure if spares can be ordered?

to program it, you just need the one good key IIRC and can do the old on-off cycle (6 of them) as detailed in the manual
