fitting the air filter like that is no problem at all, the only thing you might notice is the ISCV on the pipe getting clogged up a bit over time with day to day dust and shite.

Clean the ISCV out and it will be fine. There is no mass air flow device or anything like that, and the ISCV does what it says on the tin - contols the idle speed on a cold engine or when the engine is under load at idle - IE, got headlights and heaters on etc etc.
