Default MOT Question Front Seat Tilt Not Working

Hi everyone and Graceland,

My missus uses an Astra Coupe to get to and from work.
When we originally purchased the car from a car dealer in Sittingbourne, Kent (will refrain from mentioning the dealer as they have been prosecuted after we purchased it) we had nothing but grief with it.
Engine and bodywork wise it's perfect.
The handle that sticks out of the passenger seat for it to tilt forwards has come out of the seat.
I took the backing off the back of the seat to reveal a household 13amp plug attached to the seating cable. Another bodge job.
I went to Vauxhall to get a new clip as the original clip had snapped and had been held together with SELLOTAPE!!
I went to take the seat out of the car and it seems they have angle grinded the head of the bolts off. BODGE!!
The clip Vauxhall gave me to hold the handle in does not match the old one.
This clip is very similar to an Escort MK4 indicator V clip that holds the indicator into the wing.
What I want to know after that rambling is can I just stick the tilt handle back in the seat?
Will they test it by pulling it etc or just make sure the seat tilts? As long as the seat tilts forward is that ok.

Greg
