Oh well, might not bother then... Anyone else got opinions on this? (Best place to put the fans)

You could flush the rad through and see what comes out. Also just check it visually, what sort of condition is the core in? Are the fins ok or are they all bent over or rotting away? Is it showing any signs of leaking?
