I totally agree, which is why i almost didn't do it BUT - Fiesta Mk3 PAS is still rough enough that you can feel the car, and yet light enough so that your not pulling it round when parking. My Sister's MKIV is light a hell in comparason. It's almost "primitive PAS", which for people like us, is what you want over stupidly light steering. You're right about the bay too, the Alternator and PAS bracket takes up a very large area now, and its pretty tight for pipes over that side too.
