Powdercoating, as far as im aware is a no.
Acid dipping, no.
Sand blasting, no.
Media blasting, yes (heard they use plastic beads or some sort of nut shell...or am I on crack with the last one?
)

Give up and buy new rims, yes (if your minted enuff
)
Call it a day and go pub, naturaly.
Leave the wheels alone and spend the money else where, maybe.
