It's a known fact that if you contest the speeding and take it to court, that you'll get a bigger fine and more points.
If he appeals, he can probably expect more points and an even larger fine.
The camera caught him fair and square and he should have accepted that or sought advice before embarking on going to court to fight it. He only has himself to blame.

Did he plead not guilty in the first place, hence the £150 and 4 points - instead of taking the normal fixed penalty?
