When discharging the pack.. bringing the down to 1.1v-0.8v per cell is fine..
But below that voltage cells in the pack start to become unbalanced and some will discharge lower than others, when the cells start to drop below the reccomended 1.1v-0.8v discharge limit they start to produce gas which starts to build up pressure inside the cell which makes the cell/cells start to vent which loses water and damages the cell/cells permantly.
Which is why you buy a propper piece of discharging piece of equipment like the spintec which not only discharges the pack down to a safe voltage (will cutoff if it senses anything wrong) but it also lowers the internal resistance, increase the voltage, increase runtime, increase capacity and increase the energy of the battery..
well and truely answered!!
so no.. a bulb and a bit of wire won't do the same as £50 of propper equipment.. so if you do use the spintec you might make your Rc project go fast..
But to be honest id just go Lipo
