0.25mm would be OK
25mm is almost an inch and might cause a few leaks.

I remember reading about using diesel rods in CCC and it is a whole load of hassel compared to bolting in some cossie ones, if you use the cossie crank you will need to use the cossie flywheel and RWD MT75/T5 or use a custom flywheel.
