right, today i got the front up, disc and pads are good, ball joints seem to be good apart from small split in the rubber on one, which isnt a prob i got spare rubbers
steering rack and track rond ends are good as is the tie bar bushes

drivers shock is 110% fcuked! shock moves forwards and back and the piston stays still so thats truely buggered oh and it has a lowering spring on (i belive) where as the passanger one dont, but i shall replace both shocks (as your ment to anyway) and i think the passanger ones seen better days anyway.
the rear shock are not leaking, but it dont mean they aint buggered so will remove and check them later. and also check out the trailing arms and the ARB as there is a knocking on the passanger back end when the front is bounced

rust wise, its fairly good, the floor has a small patch needed on passanger side up front, no hole but its seperated a tiny bit floor to bulk head metal and has a rusty patch about the size of a £2 coin.
bit needed on passanger front chassie box section in both front arches, again nothing major but needs doing.
both rear archs have rotted at the bottoms of the rear quater panles, and just in front, or behind if you want, the trailing arms at the back on the drivers side it has rusted a tad, hole about the size of a £1 coin, but will patch the whole area as it will go further in time, again nothing major.
some grotty bits on the inner wings too but nothing major, no holes just rusty bits even after proding no hole, so its fairly solid but will still need plating (mot)
oh and the batter tray and under it has rotted out, and ford no longer do battery trays for the mk2, so if i cant get a mk2 one or there a lot of money i shall fit the tray from a mk3 fiesta.

the rot on the car is in all the common places for a mk2, in fact i was expecting some more rot TBH but all along the sills/floor and including the back of the floor,is as solid now as the day it was sold with not even so much as a blister in the under seal which was a shock but a good shock
so over all its not too bad, i did check it over before i bought it but it was a quick check over in the major places and untill you get a car in the air and have a full going over you cant 100% see it all, but for what its got i expected and still think it was a good buy.

just shows how good the steel used in the early ones was compaired to the crap steel used in spain in the later 80's.

this is not a restro on this right now, this is MOT work that has to be done to get it on the road and thats all i shall be doing to it for the time being, once summer comes and the rs is finished i shall start "project 2 litre xr2" in full, but as i say for now its MOT work only.

just a shame there aint many if any in scrappies now days, i could do with some bits like head lights. although in true "jayrs" fashion i do have a mk2 fiesta spares still, inc a head light (bet its the wrong one to what i need though), although i did get shot of a load few years back which im now wishing i hadnt, but no matter
