iirc,the shafts are the same lenght,but its the cups that they sit in make one side longer.
thats why i said to check that the shaft is not catching on the side of the cup.
check the spring is ok inside the cup too.

any idea which is longer complete shaft when there all built up?
both are identical apart from the drivers side has extra bit for a circlip to hold it in the diff.
i would go with the exhaust hitting the chassis leg
