Rubbish. I've plastered my whole house, walls, ceilings, the lot. And then had a platerer ask me who done it, coz it was a really good job.

And the only plastering experience I've had was when I cut my finger.

One thing that hasn;t been mentioned - dont try too hard to make bits smooth to begin with. The more you work it, the worse it gets.
