I changed the bushes on the rear subframe on my Mondeo two weeks ago.

Don't get the Ford or aftermarket replacement bushes get some of the polyurethane ones as they are a hell of a lot easier to fit and should last the life of the car.

I got some Powerflex ones from Ebay - buy a 50mm rotary wire cup brush too as it will make cleaning up the metal innards of the old bushes a hell of a lot easier.

You can do one side at a time, jack which ever side up you choose after removing the wheel, undo the two bolts and the subframe will lower - if you are lucky one of the bushes if bad enough will come out by itself - if it does you can then place it between the body and the subframe and jack the subframe back up to force the next bush out.

Once that has come out use the rotary wire cup brush thingy to clear off any old rubber and or rust out of the remaining outer then get the powerflex bush and put a little bit of washing up liquid on the top rim and then push it into the hole then get some wood and place that between the bottom of the bush and a jack and jack it into place - then repeat.

I did mine in around 2 1/2 hours soo much better now it doesn't clunk everytime I go over a bump in the road.
