Well that lasted long.......
My lovely new saffy that i was enjoying hooning around in and which has renewed my cossie excitement had an unfortunate mishap this afternoon...
Had just been to a mates who is on holiday to check his house,came from his onto the local expressway and as i come around a roundabout i spy a bewinged plastic wonder that looks remotely Jap in the distance..
Off i go out of the roundabout,coming onto boost nicely and about to go into hyperspace mode and......................
BOOM !!!!!!
Suddenly it sounds like a grenade has gone off under the hood and i`m losing ground at a rather alarming pace.......
Bummer.......
Darkside 1.........Diva 0
Upon cruising to a halt and opening the bonnet,the problem became immediately apparent...
Spot whats missing...
So after exactly a week and 103 miles,the saffy is dead
Very soon after,Sticky and Shortstuff turn up in the German staff car to take the piss and make me feel better...(Not

)
Followed by Dave Cos 4x4 who very kindly dropped what he was doing to recover me back to Diva Towers....
Nearly there Dave.....
And back we arrive at the Ranch.....
Not being ones to be disheartened by such minor mishaps..

..work is immediately started to pull the old girl to bits
.........after a short while the head is off....
Confirming the fact that we now require 16 new valves and the same quantity of guides...
Which now leads me on to my next dilemma...........
As i was removing the head,i was rather horrified to see what i initially thought were massive valve strike gouges in the pistons......a closer inspection revealed that they were in fact valve pockets machined in for big lift cams and also that the bowls in the pistons were mega deep...
Another little wipe with the magic cloth reveals that the block is also wire rung,and despite some minor valve contact marks,the bottom end is mint with no lips in the bores and honing marks still visible(It has allegedly done only 15K miles...

)
So we have now found the reason why it was a bit flat off boost,we thought it was maybe cams(Was told it had BD10`s fitted,but they are std) but obviously the CR is nice and low...
SO................................................ ...........
What the fook do i do now,seems a shame to stick a totally standard head back on a fruity bottom end,should i stick a ported head on,my spare T4 and some big injectors and have some fun knowing it`s gonna whoop the fook out of gearboxes or just build the fooker with a std top end and chuck in as much boost as my little T34 give it......
Heres the bottom end after a quick wipe with the magic cloth....
Why Me......
