I think you will find that the government isnt the one forcing you to buy petrol or forcing you to buy it from a particular source.
And when there were the fuel blockades back in 2001 it did force the government to do something albeit a fairly short lived thing but the protestors lost their bottle so didnt keep up the pressure when prices started to rise again.
The reason the government has to keep imposing 'stealth taxes' is because the average british whinger always wants to pay less tax...
But the Piper always has to be paid... so the money has to come from somewhere so if its not direct from wages in increased income tax it has to be from other places.
This is a fact of life..... get over it... move on.
