£20k a year part time, where did you hear that bollocks?
My old man was retained for 25 years and the basic is between £1500-2000 with about £20 flat rate call out payment, on average he used to get 2-3 shouts per week, so £60 a week on top of £2k basic is nowhere near £20k.
Part time fireman dont get the respect they deserve, they are fully trained and do it more or less volountary for the amount they get paid, all along side a full time day job.
