Right, me and biscuit are still trying to sort out what to do with his RST to get a half decent power figure out of it till he can afford to get a saph, so pikey motorsport is the order of the day with no money spent.
Bits that we have lieing around or can get cheaply
Low milage EFI engine complete
ERST engine - fucked
T25 rover tomcat turbo
195 superchip
Various injectors
FSE "power boost valve" adjustable regulator
It is NOT daily driven, it doesnt need to fuel perfectly all over the rev range or give great economy, it just needs to be safe when driving off boost or at low boost, and to go well (for a shitty old CVH) when on boost.
Now my theory for a reasonable pikey spec to see him most of his way to 200bhp is this
Fit the EFI engine with the tomcat turbo and fit it to the car
Stick the 195 chip on it
Fit a set of 701 (or equivalent) injectors and the FSE
The chip will no doubt lean out a touch at the top end as its on the wrong turbo, but I suspect the timing though will be mega conservative and we'll run it on 99 RON only anyway so I reckon all we need to do to keep it safe on boost is richen it up a touch.
FSE's tend to cause overfuelling on boost IME, so I reckon by putting that on and setting it to the appropriate value for the chip, we could be heading in the right ballpark.
Then take it out and datalog the AFR everywhere on my wideband, and adjust the mixture globally (with more fuel pressure) until there are no dangerously lean spots anymore.
Will no doubt end up far too rich in places, but I reckon it should actually cope ok.
So, tell me why it will melt / not run / grenade / etc and why im a cunt for even considering that route?
Remember im NOT after something thats perfect here, just something that goes pretty well on boost and is acceptable off boost, I dont care if the transient fuelling causes a few splutters he needs to get the hang of driving around or anything like that, its only serious engine failure we are keen to avoid.
