Absolutely, with limited control available on a basic ECU, its absolutely paramount to compromise things in a way that results in useable power, far better to lose out in the gears you arent so interested in if it makes it more driveable in the gears you use more.
Better still though to have boost controlled versus throttle angle, or against gear or similar though of course, as then you can have your cake and eat it so to speak!
