I even remember back then that some companies excluded cars over certain insurance groups (usually 17+), and some even stated 'excluding Ford Cosworths' in the small print for this very reason.
Ive actually been put in the back of a traffic car while the copper rang quinn direct and asked if they were aware i was tearing around in a Group 20 Cosworth on a fiesta LX policy
There reply" as long as the car is insured we will back him". Copper was livid
