Xen, if you run the chassis number or the old registration by the
british DVLA you may find out the original registration,then your friend
could looking into the history of it, i'm almost certain
when old cosworths go the same way as mk1 and mk2 ex works escorts
they will be somthing special,if presented in original livery or not.

i also know a fella who owns A EX RED GROUP A SIERRA COSWORTH
its been on the front cover of motoring news with no other pics other
than the cossie, it was a famous sierra in that it scored the first
international win for ford being a 4x4 Cosworth.Manx 1990
Russell Brooks was the driver
it was driven by Brooks then later on by McRae.
now thats a Cosworth, it was the black TEXACO Sierra
