I had the same problem with my FRST fuel pump. I traced the problem to the resister on the wiring just before the pump. I cut it off and connected the wire directly to the connector. No prblems since. Did this about 3 years ago now.
You cas see on the picture that the fuel pump wires have no longer the resister but instead are directly connected to the plug at the top.

just seen this...can i ask the reason for the removal of the throttle damper from the top of the pump in the pic ??? did it have issues?? im interested as i think i have issues with mine...many thanks
