I had one and they are overbored and stroked 1.6 engines for this reason they are not as strong as the engines using the american long block, I personally found the engine unwilling to rev.
Mine was running about 230 bhp at the time it went bang. Although this was measured on PE rollers so it was probably a bit optimistic

I would prefer a decent 1.6 over a PE 1.9
