Problem sorted with much head scratching and looking at the 2 filters i decided to take trumpet off the k&n and fit the trumpet off the filter that was on the car its a big filter 2 but of an unknown brand (but it had a chrome finish trumpet) which was a good inch shorter than the k&n trumpet so now it fits like a glove and the bonnet doesnt even hit it when it closes, so what a brucie bonus that was 2 get it fitted and a shinny chrome trumpet only down side is another shinny bit to polish
