I was just about to say dont leave anything in the centre console under the handbrake!

If it does it whilst the alarm is disarmed the siren has water in it and needs replacing (it corrodes the pcb in it) mine did this and cost me £100 to get replaced as its not covered under warranty and its a common problem!
