That won't of been your problem mate, that sensor only controls the cold start valve when the engine is stone cold, it does absolutely nothing when the engine is hot. Its a Thermo Time Switch (TTS) by the way.
I would check to see if your fuel system is retaining pressure. I had this exact symptom on my cabriolet when i first converted it - as you say it was a fucking show up on the petrol station forecourt.
Mine would start after about 4-5 mins of solid cranking
This was because the fuel pressure wasn't being held in the line, you will hear some funny noises from the tank if you have the same fault i expect. And also pressure release when you take the petrol cap off.
yeah that does happen sometimes with the tank and that mate so how did you fix it cheers
You need to test the fuel pressure in the line. Turn it off for a few minutes and check to see if there is pressure in the line or not.
